Hey everyone -

Thought I'd test out the forums by making the first post. My name is Greg, and I live in Chico, CA. Here's a picture of my baja that I finished in September 2010 - this was in Wyoming while hunting for Antelope. My baja is a '69 body on a '66 pan, with a Thing front beam and small-nut bus transaxle with reduction boxes. Running 700x15 Yokohama's up front and 31x10.5 BFG All-Terrains in the back, along with a stock 1600cc SP.

Hi, we're Matt and Shauna from Dayton, NV - we live 4 miles from the finish line for the Vegas-to-Reno off-road race.

We have a retired Class 5 car and a Thing we just completed a total rebuild on; both were sitting in a field for about 10 years before we bought them a little over a year ago.

Hi, this is Gabriel and Stephanie. We drive a black-and-white '66 Baja Bug that we keep garaged in Placerville. We look forward to meeting everyone at the first meet-up!

I like that class 11. GS I used to know the guy that owned that 66 baja. He told me the marks on the side of it showed how many times he had to replace the transmission or some kind of major repair like that. Small world.

Hey guys, nice to see people coming together

Anyways, I'm Justin I live in Orangevale (by folsom). Here is my rail, I've only had it for about 5 months, but its been a blast. Its all vw, 2240 type 1, bus trans, irs. Hoping to improve on the suspension and make it more off road worthy. You guys all have an advantage over me currently (being street legal), but I plan to trailer it out to the events that I can. This pic is in nevada at China Springs.

Hi all... my name is Randy. I live on the central coast near Pismo. So I will not be able to make alot of the trips. But hopefully some in the future.
This is our family owned Manx since the Spring of 1967. It has taken us on alot of great vacations and adventures and we are looking forward to more.

Running with a 1835cc DP single Zenith 32 and a Crower low-end cam.

Off-road trips over the years included 10 times to Baja between 1968 and 1978.

My name is Nick. I have a 65 baja with a a stock 1600 dp that my dad and I have been working on since I was 15 and I'm now 17.  I live in Hollister, Ca.  So being that I live far away, and I'm only 17, I probably won't make it out to many of the runs unless they're fairly close to me.  But when they are, I'm stoked to go riding !!

Thank you for the compliment 74Class11. You also have a neat looking buggy with a great family history for all those years. Looking forward to seeing it when it is restored.
Also... I am impressed with the quality of all the buggies shown here so far. They look to be well thought out but not over the top Bajas a Thing and a rail.

1970DARKNESS: That's really interesting. I was always getting asked what the "X" es were for. I should add two new sets, for the new clutch, and then cylinders and pistons I put in. I bought it from a guy who lived in Pollock Pines, who said he was moving out of state about 2 years ago.

Hey All! The name is Jonathan, and here is a couple of my '74 Thing. She's a bit of an odd duck when it comes to the motor, it's a Lukes & Shoreman built 2032 type4 in '85. It's got alot of odd buts inside, 356 lifters, water pumper rods, Porsche 2.0L heads, dellorto carbs, 911 alternator/fan, and an Elgin Cam. Front has 3" lift spindles, rear still needs to get lifted. Currently running 7.00x15 and 31x10.5's

Up on Cow Mountain Lakeport Camp&Shine Weekend.

Motor before I cleaned it up a bit, and swapped the webbers for dellorto's and changed the linkage....

Hi all, glad this is coming together.

My name is Romy and my wife, Jenn, and I have a 70 bug.  It's mostly stock minus some lift, reliability upgrades, and an 091 trans.  We live in Oakland, but take weekend trips just about every weekend out of the bay area, usually to the Sierras.  Mostly we just camp with it and go on trails exploring, no crazy stuff yet because it's no fun breaking in the middle of nowhere and having to walk back out!

Saline Valley:

First trip out with our camping yurt getting to some remote spot:

Some NF in Idaho somewhere.  It was a 5k mile trip around the west this past summer with bro/sis in laws in their baja

And good thing there were two of us...
